Starting life in
2004 as an original Japan-market Integra Type R, this machine has
seen a radical transformation over the years into its present
state. Having started from an original street car to the current
status, has given KSport the ability to test their products during
a variety of vehicle development phases and under many different
racing conditions.
What makes this Type
R special is it’s ability to compete at the highest level using
completely off the shelf parts from KSport USA’s warehouse. All
KSport parts on the Type R are completely original from the box,
same as any customer would purchase them. Only spring rates have
been changed on the dampers (12kg on all four corners). That said,
this Type R uses the following suspension products from the KSport
USA catalog: GT Pro dampers, ProComp big brakes on all four
corners, rear camber kit, rear lower control arms, upper
camber/caster plates and adjustable bump-steer kit.
The engine has been
highly modified with an ERL designed engine block, along with a Full
Race turbo kit that spins a Garrett GT3035 twin-scroll
turbocharger. At the end of the day, the KSport Type R makes 373hp
on the dyno, with excellent response and is very easy to drive for a
front-wheel-drive car. All power is transferred through the OEM
Type R gearbox with a KAAZ clutch differential. Holding the Type R
to the track is a set of Tenzo-R 18x8.5” wheels with P245/35ZR18
Hoosier R6 competition tires.
As it sits, the
KSport Type R weighs in at a scant 2300lbs, largely due to it’s
utilization of carbon fiber and composite materials throughout the
exterior and the cabin; the only remaining OEM panel is the roof
skin. As a development vehicle for AIT Racing, many parts available
for the world market were developed on this Type R.
Look for the KSport
Type R at time attack events from Redline, GT Live, NASA and Super
Lap Battle.
This vehicle was
originally added to the KSport stable as a development platform
for the many different 240SX coilover and brake applications.
Staring as a $400 rolling shell, the KSport 240SX went from a
state more resembling scrap metal, to a complete Hot Import Nights
drift demo vehicle in under 30 days. In addition to product
development, this 240SX sees regular time in national drift series
from NASA, Nopi and D1 grand Prix.
Like the KSport Type
R, this 240SX uses off the shelf components from KSport’s warehouse
that have not been altered beyond what a KSport customer is capable
of. Aside from spring rate changes, every KSport part on this
vehicle is the exact same as you’d purchase it from your local
dealer! That being said, the KSport drift 240SX uses a GT Pro
coilover system with 10kg springs on all four corners, KSport’s Pro
Comp big brake kit, as well as KSport adjustable end links, tie rod
ends, bump steer kit, upper control arms, rear toe arms and
adjustable tension rods. KSports popular hydraulic handbrake kit
was developed from scratch in this vehicle as well.
The outside of the
KSport 240SX is layered with carbon and composite parts from AIT
Racing, which helped shed more than 200lbs off the vehicle. The
engine is a standard Nissan SR20 block, but with fully built
internals, a Garrett turbocharger and AEM engine management pushing
the 2.0L engine to 464hp at the wheels. Dunlop Direzza Z1 tires are
used exclusively on this car as well.
Having participated
in events in Arizona, California, Vegas, St. Louis, New Mexico and
Texas, chances are good that you will see the KSport 240SX at an
event near you soon!
This LS1 supercharged beast toured the drift circuit with
Ksport Slide Kontrol coilovers and accessories installed. As
Mike is known for his insane driving style we felt that he would
abuse them more than anyone else would be able to showing the
ruggedness of the product to his thousands of fans.
This XB was the Ksport display vehicle for SEMA 2007 and was met at
the show with rave reviews from media and manufacturers alike.
First on the list of modifications is the
Aitracing.com lip kit and
Aitracing.com carbon hatch
and hood. We were honestly impressed how well fitment on all
of the parts was, and everyone here loved the look after
installation. The custom Ksport orange two tone paint job was
than added with custom graphics from Xsell media of Tempe, AZ.For
the wicked stance of the car we installed some Ksport Kontrol Pro
coilovers. In order to complete the perfect look we used some
Tenzo R GT6 19"
wheels wrapped with Dunlop SP
SportMaxx tires, a combo good for both aesthetics and performance.
This wheel also is great for showing the 14" front and rear Ksport
Procomp big brake kit, 8 pistons in the front and 6 in the rear for
maximum stopping power.
As for the engine we gave the XB to the turbo gurus of AZ, Tony
and kevin from UMS Tuning in
mesa, AZ. For the turbo we installed nothing but the best, a
full kit from Turbonetics
turbos in CA. The responsiveness of this kit is awesome and
after the tuning from UMS it was able to put out an impressive 301hp
to the wheels.
To finish off the car we needed a sound system worthy of such a
ride, so we installed a full
Rockford Fosgate sound
system. Installing 4 6 1/2" door speakers, 4 12" power subs, 2
bd amps, and 2 caps was not an easy chore. In order to keep
the setup looking good for shows, and perform like no other we
turned to Unique Car Audio in Gilbert, AZ. They were able to
come up with a really impressive configuration that people at SEMA
could not get enough of.
Overall this car was a great success at SEMA and should be at
tracks across the country throughout the 2008 season.
When Scion and Fujita got together to develop a vehicle for
the 2007 SEMA show to show off their products we were honored they
insisted on using the ksport suspension system in the vehicle
after evaluating many other suspesnion brands on the market.
Both Fujita Air and Scion were very happy with the results as well
as media that attended the show. This vehicle is currently
on tour with Scion.
The following is a calendar of events planned for the 2009 season.
